Pride of the Ancestors by Jungle Flower

Pride of the Ancestors by Jungle Flower is a survivor-created streetwear collection of hoodies, long sleeves, t-shirts and one of a kind hand dyed and hand bleached items.

Jungle Flower (she/her) is a Tkaronto based poet, speaker, workshop facilitator, and trauma-informed writing guide.

After narrowly escaping a psychologically abusive relationship, she founded Reclaim Your Voice in 2012, a BIPOC survivor-led organization that creates safe spaces where people who have experienced abuse and sexual violence can share their stories.

Stepping away from her 20-year career as a photographer in the entertainment industry, Jungle Flower found healing through her work in the survivor community, pushing her way through stage fright to share her story and raise awareness. Today she works with schools across the country, hosting survivor-centred workshops and sharing her message of healing through storytelling, spoken word poetry and imagery that inspires audiences to boldly reclaim their own voices.

Pride of the Ancestors is a project that helps Jungle Flower achieve balance and harmony in her life, allowing her to take mental breaks from her trauma-centred work and exercise her creativity in a lighthearted way. Exploring colour, word play and graphics provides her with the opportunity to connect with her community in a way that she hopes helps them feel empowered.
